    Introduction to Cryptography

This first course on cryptography will focus on mathematical  techniques in modern cryptosystems, so mostly  what is known as public key or asymmetric ciphers. Consider, for example, how you can establish and maintain a private conversation with a remote bank, using the highly insecure and public channel of the internet. There is no opportunity to 'meet' and xachange secrets as in clasical symmetric key cryptosystems. The publci key systems are based on 'hard problems' in mathematics, generally arising from number theory.
