This is a statistics introductory course intended to equip students in communication studies with data collection and analysis skills necessary for conducting research in Communication Studies. Thus, students will be introduced to statistical methods while showing their application in research in communication studies.  Students taking this course require only basic mathematics skills with numbers such as addition (+); subtraction (-); multiplication (x); and division (/). Therefore, the use of a scientific calculator will be necessary to perform large calculations. However, the main focus will be on drawing valid conclusions from the results of these calculations, which will take into account the methodology that yielded the data in question. Thus, sampling methods and how their data are used for making predictions about the populations from which they were drawn will be discussed. Please find attached the course outline.
