The
course explores the evolution of African politics. Specifically, it traces the development of African political
systems across three periods namely: the pre-colonial era; the colonial era; and
the postcolonial/neo-colonial period between independence and today. The course
balances regional knowledge with broader comparative theory in order to address
questions about salient features of the African polity especially its
democratic trajectory and political culture.
